SignWriting ListApril 24, 2012Hello Ryan and SW List -Thank you, Ryan, for this question. Feel free to post your technical questions about SignWriting or about software, directly to the SignWriting List. It is a good idea to do that, so that others can answer too - we can all discuss issues that way -Ryan sent this question to me. See my answer below...--------On Apr 23, 2012, at 2:30 PM, Ryan Fan wrote:Hello again!I've been reviewing the few entries I've put up so far and realized that the sign entry for Sunday/Christian isn't quite right. As it is:
íæã ÇáÍÏ, ÇáÃÍÏ, íæã ÇáÃÍÏ, ãÓíÍí, ÇáãÓíÍí, Sunday, Christian
íæã ÇáÍÏ
If I read this handshape correctly, then I would say the thumb crosses the extended index, and the tip of the bent middle finger presses against the index. However, for the actual sign, the thumb should be extended parallel to the extended index, with the middle more curled up, with the tip pressing against the index, contacting between the two joints of the index finger. I couldn't seem to find a handshape in SignPuddle that matched this description, but please let me know if I'm mistaken. Many thanks!-Ryan--------Val's answer:That is a difficult hand symbol. Is it possible, Ryan, for you to take a photo of your own hand doing the position you want, and attach the photo to an email and send it to the SignWriting List? Then we can all try to write the hand position together -So please send us a photo, or even a video of the sign…there is no problem attaching it to an email and sending it to the SignWriting List. Attachments are welcome…Thank you for editing the Egyptian SignPuddle:
Val ;-)
