To add a javascript bookmark in Chrome, right-click on the bookmarks bar and click "Add page...", then paste the code into the field labeled "URL".

After clicking on the bookmark, clicking on text fields will cause the keyboard to appear at the bottom of the screen.

This sounds totally incredible, Yair!

I am determined to try it and tell you all my experiences - But sadly I am not a computer person and I am lost…let me tell you what I did...

I am using Chrome Version 42.0.2311.152 (64-bit) on a Mac.

I haven’t used Chrome for awhile and when I opened this new version, the bookmarks seem to work differently.

But I copied this onto my clipboard:

javascript:(function(){var d=document,h=d.getElementsByTagName("head")[0],c=h.appendChild(d.createElement("link")),j=h.appendChild(d.createElement("script")),u="https://806e8abcad89c3043886d9f62a7903edbba39fa1.googledrive.com/host/0B1Pz4n6wXAfvT18yOTFoSE5Sa2s/";c.type="text/css";c.rel="stylesheet";c.href=u+"SWKB.css";j.src=u+"SWKB.min.js"})();

and then pasted the above into the url of Chrome…is that what I am supposed to do?

So then I bookmarked that page ...

So then I opened the ASL Wikipedia in Incubator, which looks so cool….

http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex/Wp/ase/

And I placed my cursor in the text field for “Search” that is at the top right of the screen…and then I tried to find my bookmark for the code and when I did it did nothing for my Search field -

Or what field would you suggest that I try to write in? And when I do do it, will your keyboard design come up on my screen so I can type SignWriting symbols? Can you take a quick snapshot of your screen to tell us what it should look like?

Or can you maybe create a quick video of your hands working on your computer so I can follow what you did?

This is so exciting if this works well for everyone -

To bring SignWriting symbols into regular text fields is just what we all need of course -

Can anyone else tell me what I did wrong?

Val ;-)

The SignWriting Keyboard now works on ordinary textboxes when used in Chrome. I hope to have it working for other browsers soon.

To test it, create a bookmark with the following content and then click on it while on the webpage you wish to type SignWriting in:
javascript:(function(){var d=document,h=d.getElementsByTagName("head")[0],c=h.appendChild(d.createElement("link")),j=h.appendChild(d.createElement("script")),u="https://806e8abcad89c3043886d9f62a7903edbba39fa1.googledrive.com/host/0B1Pz4n6wXAfvT18yOTFoSE5Sa2s/";c.type="text/css";c.rel="stylesheet";c.href=u+"SWKB.css";j.src=u+"SWKB.min.js"})();

This will turn all simple text boxes on the page into SignWriting editing fields. It might not work on sites that have too restrictive Content Security Policies, or sites that don't take JS selection interference nicely, but it seems to work on the Wikimedia Incubator. Editing in this context works much like normal typing, with the normal uses of the arrow keys, backspace/delete keys, and enter key. Please tell me if you see any bugs.

Thanks.
