This is wonderful information, Adam - thank you.
Are all of your signs entered into SignPuddle?
Should all versions be labeled “Vocabulary List” in SignPuddle in the text field?
Or are there some choices you would not include?
We can call it the SWList Vocabulary List for ASL -
we can print by searching for all signs labeled Vocabulary List and choose print to PDF...
And it will grow everyday as we discuss signs…
So I am asking you a favor -
Please help by placing the term Vocabulary List in the text area of the entries you want to include…
You know best which ones to choose...
Many thanks!
Val ;-)

Here is one variation of the sign for NEIGHBOR that I have seen:

It could be done with adding PERSON at the end, but I don’t normally see that.
I have also seen the variation of NEIGHBOR with the hands one top of one another:

Is this easily readable? Or any suggestions to make it clear the position of the hands? It could also have PERSON added at the end, but I also don’t normally see that.
I don’t normally see HOME used in the compound of NEIGHBORHOOD. To me, that would actually mean closer to “residential area” instead. NEIGHBORHOOD would take any of the three variations of NEIGHBOR (without PERSON) and then add AREA. Here are two versions below:

Hello SignWriting List -
I have a question, for all sign languages ….
How do you write the signs for NEIGHBOR and NEIGHBORHOOD in your sign language?
I hope signers from all over the world will respond…all sign languages are welcome!
In ASL, I have tried to write these signs…see attached… are these the way you sign it and write it in ASL?
