SW Vocabulary Lists: Signs for MOTORCYCLE

Thank you everyone, for your signs for MOTORCYCLE.

It looks like the sign is similar in 3 sign languages. But other signs, like TEACHER and others, were very different.

I will work on creating a chart today on the web, where we can compare the vocabulary.

I truly appreciate all your suggestions and contributions - please suggest other signs - every sign is valuable.

Val ;-)

PS. Want to know why I asked for the sign for MOTORCYCLE? I am trying to write this sentence:

“My neighbors have 4 children, 6 bicycles, 7 motorcycles and 5 cars.”

And this is based on a true story. Our neighbors really do have many vehicles. It is a busy street ;-)

Hello Valerie and all SignWriting List members,

Hi Adam and all,

"I was just wondering if the movement was actually a wrist flex as you had written it. I noticed that I don’t sign it that way, but that is probably because I have a painful wrist. Ha!"

Yes, ...a wrist flex as I had written it.  ;-))

"Is that the ending palm facing?"   Yes

"If so, wouldn’t the movement be forward rather than up?"

Ha, this is an interesting question. Probably you are right. ;-))  On the other hand ..mh ...performing the movement "feels to me"    ;-))  as if the fists move in place rather upward.

Thanks for Your attention to my spelling!

Stefan

I do have a question about the handshape. Is that the ending palm facing? If so, wouldn’t the movement be forward rather than up? Or was the handshape supposed to be the beginning handshape? If that is the case, wouldn’t the handshape go under the movement arrows?

I would vote for the second one. Of course, if there are other suggestions on how to write it, I am open to discussing it. :-)

Hello everyone!

What are your signs for MOTORCYCLE?

I found two in the ASL SignPuddle, but, what do you want to include in our Vocabulary List?
