Yes, I agree, in Libras (Sign Language of Brazil) in the same way that occurs the grammatical structure of ASL also occurs the grammatical structure of Libras, here in Brazil we use this method that you mention, Mental Space Token is when, during signaling , we establish the referents (characters and objects) and the locative (places) in certain points in the signaling space.
In the Book I am using this method yes, however, my target audience are deaf children 8 to 10 years of age of whom I work in a bilingual school for the deaf in my state, and believe that the use of aesthetic symbols to record the signal name of the characters will facilitate reading them, even with the Token mental space method.
