A beautiful and fulfilling job Nancy, translating scripture.
I have not written SW. for a long time . I often try to read it when time allow but I have lost it a bit.
Now about dance writing. Do you write by hand as I do because I do not know any means of doing it via computer like SW.?
Some time lang ago I talked with Valerie via e-mail if there is any means of doing it by computer. There was none at that time. You are richer than I am having works of choreographers, company barre work from ABT ( LUCKY YOU !!!) The notated solos from TV. did you do that yourself?
Yes I have a notated ballet work-out class, still among my papers, I could share it with you. I am not a computer" buff " At the moment I would not know how to send it to you as it is hand written. I have to learn how to scan it.
I write as if you are standing behind the dancer, although you see the dancer from the front.
So wonderful to "meet" you Nancy and I sure hope to share with each other.
Thank you for writing, I will be more elaborate, next time but I have a job to finish I better get back at it.
Till next time.
Tini.

Hello Tini,
How nice to hear from you, and that you know dance writing. I also learned the Labanotation method, but since I already knew dance writing, I quickly forgot Laban! Notation was a required subject when I was a dance major in college, and they did not accept dance writing at the time! Only learned a little of Benesh -- they had a good idea but incomplete. Dance writing - excellent! -- I have many, many pages of different choreographers' combinations from ballet classes, as well as a company barre from ABT, Ceccheti grades, & some notated solos from television.
I also found out about dance writing in 1975. Wondering, when you use dance writing, do you write from a receptive or expressive view? I have both.
If you'd like, maybe we could scan some of our work for educational purposes, or just to compare notes.
And feel free to write whenever you like! Most of the time I am at this computer, translating Scripture into American Sign Language.

Hello Nancy,
My name is Tini Pel and have been dance writing for a long time, so great to read that you sign-write dance , Is it possible to correspond together.
I have first been introduced to dance-writing by Valery in Denmark during the 7-tees and fell in love with it. My first introduction in dance writing was via Laban. I switch over to Benesh a simpler version, but when I saw Valerie Sutton explaining it in Denmark, I was sold.
What a clear, quick, readable her method is. I have thought it to many students in my years of teaching ballet when we did not have recorders. Then later it was only used for a quick reminder during exams times.
I have moved several times from town to town and lost my instruction books. I did some exams in writing even those result have been lost during moving. I still have some class work and often look back at it for ideas.
I hope you have time to reply,
thanks Nancy,
