Hi Jonathan and everyone,

If you have an Apple computer, here are the instructions:
  1. Apple Universal Access
  2. Change the contrast (white on black)
  3. Click on "Firefox"
  4. SignPuddle
  5. Choose the Quebec flag
  6. Click on the blind or on the sighted dictionary
  7. Click on "Connexion" (Login)
  8. Click on "chercher par les mots" (search by words)
  9. Type "malades"
  10. See the source: André L.
  11. Click on "réécrire le signe" (rewrite the sign)
  12. Do you see a sign?  (No, the sign disappears)
But you can
11. Click on "réécrire SignText (rewrite SignText)
12. It works well, but I never used a "write SignText button" before and I never try to edit a sign because I did not know how to edit it in SignText. I will have to study the features in SignText ("delete, change, add, move", and so on).

Best regards,

André

Hi André,
I am not sure why the sign disappears from the SignMaker box when you click on the rewrite button.  Maybe because you didn't create the sign or you are not the puddle administrator.  As far as I know this isn't a SignPuddle/SignWriter issue.  Maybe someone else can help you with this one.

But if you want the signs to be translatable, find the sign,
[log in to unmask]" alt="">

then click on "Copy Sign from SignText"

then click on "copier le signe"

the choose the "Dictonnaire Quebec"
[log in to unmask]" alt="">

Fill out the information
[log in to unmask]" alt="">

Click on ajouter.

Then you can search for the sign
[log in to unmask]" alt="">

and click on "réécrire le signe" to fix the copy of the sign you have just made, of course the original stays unchanged.

Now you can go to Traduire

type in "malade"

and get the sign.

I hope this helps

Regards
Jonathan

Hi Steve and everyone,

Steve explained to SW list the difference between individual signs with SignMaker and sign texts with SignText. I do understand them now.

Using the SignWriter Studio dictionary, André L. created signs and exported them into SignPuddle. When the sign is misspelled, I try to edit it in SignMaker from SignPuddle. I click on it from source André L. on the rewrite button. But the sign disappears from the SignMaker box. Therefore, I cannot edit it because SignMaker from SignPuddle does not work with sign texts from theSignWriter Studio dictionary. Am I right, or am I missing something here?

Best regards,

André

Hello,

Many of the words I entered in sign puddle using sign studio are not displayed in the translate feature.
Only the words are displayed without sign.
However, with a seach on the same words, the sign is displayed.
Hi Andre,

The translate feature works with individual signs that were created in SignMaker.

The translate feature does not work with sign texts that were created with SignText.

Looking at the "assis" entry:
http://www.signbank.org/signpuddle2.0/canvas.php?ui=1&sgn=47&sid=4400

    [log in to unmask]" alt="">

The sign is boxed and a lower font size.  This indicates it was created with SignText.  Under the "Source", you can see the "SignText data" links.  This sign will not work in the current translate.

Here is "assistant" in the same dictionary.

[log in to unmask]" alt="">

Notice that it is not boxed and a larger font size.  This indicates is was created with SignMaker.  Under the "Search.." links, you can see the "Sign data" links.  This sign will work in translate.

So that's the problem.  You say you created this with "sign studio".  Are you talking about Jonathan's SignWriter Studio?  Or did you use SignText?

The solution is to move the signs from the sign text area to individual signs.  I'm not sure the best way to do this.

How many entries are like this?

Regards,
