Hmmmm ;-)
Regarding the ASL sign for BOTH - Each example is readable... and thank you, Adam, and cw and writers in SignWriter Java, for writing this sign.
There are 2 writing rules or guidelines that I try to follow:
1. "First, write the Position of Contact" (page 194-195 in the Lessons in SignWriting Textbook)
2. "Every sign has a center" (page 196 and continues for some pages....)
So in the sign for BOTH, the way I interpret it, there are 2 Positions of Contact - the beginning position and the ending position, since the fingers came together and contacted each other in the ending position... that is why I choose to write the second position - I think it is easier for the reader - no guessng
So based on Adam's most recent writing, I have included my suggestion:

Here’s another question. ;-)
I have been struggling with spelling BOTH. Looking in SignPuddle, I found a couple of spellings. The first is from “cw”, and the second was copied from SignWriter Java.
In 2013, I rewrote these two. Looking at it now, I don’t think it is very readable, although it is more compact.
I just now decided to rewrite it now. I know it uses another advance symbol, but is it readable if you know what the symbols mean?
