Hi Adam!

Thanks for your help! I have an account and at first I had already logged-in to the SignPuddle but I didn't know what the button "Write Sign" and "Write Words" were. Now I know them due to your recommendation and try editing the sign and words. So Thanks again!

I'm not a native ASL signer so I think your reason that facial expression doesn't need to be included because of the grammar seems to make more sense to me. So I'm going to remove the facial expression from my submitted sign.

I have entered the link you provided and am curious about how you attached the link to the video with a preview image and a particular range of time. Could I ask you how you did it? I can only attach the video link to the submitted sign but it doesn't show the image preview. Thank you!

Hello Sutthikhun,

Here is the link to the entry I made of the sign you asked about:

https://www.signbank.org/signpuddle2.0/canvas.php?ui=1&sgn=4&sid=11452

I also included an image of the writing here:

You will noticed that I didn’t include the facial expressions. If you feel they are important to the sign, then you can include them as they are technically correct. The reason I didn’t include them is because I saw it more as either being the grammar of the sentence or the emotion of the signer in the video. I might have included it if I was writing the entire video rather than the individual sign.

The arrows on the outside are how I decided to write the “stop-go” movement because I would normally write the inner arrows on their own for this sign when done smoothly.

I wonder how others would write this sign. Maybe there are simpler ways to write this than what I did. Or maybe others see something that I didn’t. I’m curious to see what others will come up with. :-)

Hello SW List Members!

A technical question was asked on the Facebook SignWriting Discussion Group today:

It is written by Sutthikhun from Thailand. Here is the question:

Hello! This is the latest word, EVOLUTION, I've added to the ASL dictionary and I have some questions to ask you as following:
  1. Are these symbols correct? If not, how should it be edited?
  2. If I want to edit this sign later in the ASL dictionary (SignPuddle), how can I do or which button do I have to click?
Thanks in advance!

Evolution = the slow steady development of plants, animals, etc. during the history of the earth, as they adapt to changes in their environment
